Nice Present

My wonderful sister scored this old Fillmore poster(Mothers of Invention) for me, but wouldn’t tell me where she got it.  I suspect she got it from posters.com, but that’s speculation on my part.  It’s an original, probably vintage ‘68.  My sister is so nice.  I think I’m going to buy her a big gift just for being there for me.

John’s home and that’s a good thing.

  1. Jeff,

    Jeff,

I don’t recall if I mentioned this, but my father-in-law Richard T. Heffron made the rockumentary movie “Fillmore” (he was a director) about the last week of the Fillmore West in San Francisco. When he passed away this summer, the family arranged a screening of the movie at the Lark Theatre in Larkspur (I think that’s the town name) north of Sausalito. This was the version that was digitally re-mastered for Bill Graham’s memorial (he passed away a few years earlier). Richard did a great job on it - this movie rates with “Woodstock” as an iconic glimpse into that wild and crazy time.

    Cheers,
    George

  2. George,

I remember you mentioning that, way back in December. I like posters from that era, plus I like stuff by R.Crumb, Rick Griffin, old Zap Comix, and all of the underground comicks and psychadelic stuff. It’s not Monet, but I’ll take it. Is “Fillmore” out on DVD yet?

  3. No, not yet - we wish!

One of the studios owns it and I’m not sure why they’re sitting on it. It would be a great nostalgia hit with the baby boomers. We have an old VCR copy which is OK but doesn’t really do the movie and bands their due justice.

    Cheers,
    George
