I've surfed some pretty big places, including Pipeline, and never came as close to drowning as I did playing water polo with a bunch of hard core players. I was out of my element, and they nailed me. Once I helped organize a fund-raiser dance party at Rooster's Cafe at Carleton University, and rented a reel and projector and played surfing videos such as these as a back-drop - to, you guessed it, a large helping of Beach Boys music. I remember it being a fun party, about equally balanced between water polo players and cute young women (that I had to round up). That would have to have been early eighties - 83 or 84.
