Today was a non-eventful day in the markets for me. My hedged grains went down with the exception of beans. Sugar is really showing strength, and I bought a little more. My attention has been directed towards my wife, and I have had trouble focusing on the markets. I got my new “Chicago Board of Trade” Leroy Neiman seriograph today via Fed-Ex. They left it on my porch…I hate Fed-Ex.
After the markets closed, and I left the hospital, I managed to squeze in a little surfing. The surfing was good for my soul.
My extensive number crunching has pointed me to a great trading opportunity. I’ll let you know what it is…after I put on my position.

I had a real case of the grumps against UPS for a long time because they wouldn’t leave stuff at my door. It was Lands’ End orders and stuff like that. But now, whenever I get anything of value I’m hoping I don’t ever come home to see a package lying on my doorstep like you had with that art piece.

Oh I don’t know, if someone left thousands of dollars worth of art on my doorstep, I could live with it. I ususally just get bills.
Cheers guys,
George

George, I don’t think I’d mind them leaving something valuable on my doorstep if I didn’t pay for it, but I went so far as to pay retail for this piece. I’m going to fire off a nasty gram to the gallery, for sending it Fed-Ex in the first place.
HPT, Like you, I used to get mad at places when they wouldn’t leave stuff at my door because I was at work all day….well not all day, but from 9AM to 1:15 PM. Now that I’m older, my perspective has changed. As people park in front of my house to cut through my property to get to the beach, I’ve had several packages stolen off my porch. One package was a very nice, and expensive digital camera. Getting the money back from Fed-Ex takes about 6 months. I always insist that the shipper request my signature, but that request sometimes doesn’t always happen.

I know, I was just messing with you.
You might be able to control the shipment better by having your own Fedex business account and arranging the shipment yourself. Or - you make your supplier put it in writing on the purchase agreement before you sign it and/or you don’t take title until it’s delivered to your door and signed for. (We had an export business for a number of years and we protected ourselves by using the appropriate shipping terms - they were called INCOTERMS 1990 - FOB, FCA, DDP etc… For the value you’re dealing with here, you should get the shipping responsibilities specified correctly to your satisfaction.)
Cheers,
George
